GIANFRANCO MASCELLI
Born in Tivoli in 1944. He attended the Art Institute of Rome and the Academy. He teaches art education. In the 1960s, it manifests itself exclusively with an expressionist painting In 1976 he formulated, with Viria Donadei, the lines of "Structuralism". An analysis that will exclude all superstructures from any concept. He writes the Manifesto on the occasion of the first exhibition in 1977 and other texts for the exhibitions that will follow in Italian museums and other institutional exhibition spaces. Structuralism, as an artistic experience, will end in 1982 with the last exhibition of graphic designs in the USA. Since 1996, his research has crossed over into the most diverse materials: sand, tar, cement and glass as the main interpreter, protagonist in his sculpture and complementary in painting.
