SCULPTURE

Sculpture is the art of spatial forms in the third dimension, that is, its meaning lies in the transformation of the raw material into significant pieces. Sculpture, roughly speaking, is the art of transforming the raw material (stone, metal, wood, etc.) into meaningful spatial forms. When we say "spatial forms", we mean forms in the third dimension, that is, with volume, height and depth.
Among the plastic arts, sculpture is one of those that most establish the interaction with the general public. This is because, generally, they are designed and produced with the aim of occupying public spaces. This is the case, for example, of the Greek and Roman sculptural ensembles; but also with sculptures produced during the Renaissance or in cultures of traditional religions, such as Buddhism and Hinduism. Furthermore, depending on the time, civilization and art school, the sculpture undergoes thematic and formal variations. From the beginning of the twentieth century, sculpture began to adapt to the proposals of the artistic avant-garde that emerged in Europe. Currently, new techniques have been used such as sheet metal bending and welding, molding with resins, plastics, three-dimensional materials.
